Random Game Recommendation: Umihara Kawase Shun
Been a while since I’ve done one of these.
The Umihara Kawase games are among my favorite game series but Umihara Kawase Shun isn’t brought up as often as some other games in the series nowadays.
Originally released for the PS1 but is also available on the PSP, DS and Steam.
There are actually two versions on the PS1. Since this is an indie game series, the initial release had some cutscenes with the main character advertising some real-life products, these were removed in the Second Edition (that’s the actual name of the second release).
For the uninitiated; in the Umihara Kawase games, you’re a girl trying to navigate through a weird sealife inspired feverdream of a world using only a fishing line.
The entire draw of the series is the fishing line physics. You can swing, bounce, rappel, climb and catapult yourself across great distances with the line.
The point is to reach the exit on each field (that’s what they call stages in the game). ...
